About Camplight
Camplight Creative is a custom illustration and design studio rooted in place, purpose, and curiosity.
I partner with mission-driven organizations, parks, and nature-based businesses to create field guides, maps, stickers, signage, and educational materials that spark connection to the land — and a sense of belonging.
Allie Maloney is the illustrator, writer, and camp cook behind Camplight Creative.
Raised on the shores of Puget Sound, she grew up digging clams, chasing crabs, and flipping wild huckleberry pancakes. Her lifelong love of the outdoors led to a career as a wilderness educator, trail crew leader, and backpacking guide. Over the past two decades, she has built trails in Washington, Arizona, New York, and Florida; led expeditions across Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce, the Adirondacks, the Tetons, and the Grand Canyon; and cooked countless backcountry pizzas along the way.
Allie holds a master’s degree in Recreation Management from SUNY Cortland, where she studied sense of place, connection to nature, and curriculum design. She has taught everything from field ecology to wilderness medicine — and still packs a field guide or journal on every hike.
Recently, Allie left the larch-covered mountains of Northwest Montana with her trail dog, Spatula, in tow. She’s currently on the move, seeking new landscapes and sparks of inspiration. Her work is shaped by years in the backcountry and a belief that learning about the natural world should feel welcoming, meaningful, and fun.
Whether designing a punny sticker or a detailed trailhead map, Allie helps people feel more connected to the places they explore.
Camplight is the glow that guides and gathers—like a campfire’s warmth, a scatter of August stars, the pulse of a lightning bug, the quiet beam of a headlamp in the early camp kitchen, and the steady shine of a lantern over a red-checked tablecloth—offering radiance, connection, and a sense of place.
